About
My research interests include (but are not limited to):
(a) Computational and Animal Learning: I am interested in developing reinforcement learning algorithms based on current theories and models of associative learning and in developing non-NN computational models of animal learning, memory and behaviour.
(b) Mathematical Models of Learning: With abstract algebra (groups, groupoids and n-categories) and model-theoretical techniques I am investigating symmetries (and symmetry breaking phenomena) in psychology, particularly in learning.
(c) History and Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence: A former vice-chair of the The (British) Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behaviour, I am concerned about the scientific bases of AI. I am not particularly interested in discussing the Chinese Room, the Turing Test or the social implications of AI --or the engineering aspects of it.
(d) Advanced Theoretical Computer Science: I keep a close eye on quantum computing, DNA and cell computing, spintronics as well as on Network Theory.
