About
My current Research is focused on Afghan migration to Europe, UK in particular, after 2001.
I am particularly interested in the migration decision making of Afghans who went to London and to understand the extent to which conflict and international presence (Military/Humanitarian) in the country have affected contemporary migration patterns.
I' ve been studying Afghanistan - related issues, with a particular focus on refugees for the the last five years. My frequent trips to the area (both Afghanistan and ex-NWFP in Pakistan) have been central to understand many of the dynamics governing Afghan society.
I also carried out research focused on gender relations and on the refugee-security nexus.
Although lack of security both in Afghanistan and Pakistan has made difficult to carry out fieldwork since 2009, I could return to Kabul in late 2010 where I interviewed several families and relatives of those Afghans who migrated to London in the last decade.
I am very keen to know about anyone who is doing research in the same areas.
